The grass has turned brown and the harvest is underway. It’s the end of our holiday. L'herbe est devenue brune et la récolte est en cours. C'est la fin de nos vacances.
2nd July 2018: an invasion
Now there is an invasion of box tree moths. They are everywhere. Maintenant, il y a une invasion de pyrale du buis. Ils sont partout.
22nd June 2018: seasonal fruit
We are taking advantage of the wonderful seasonal fruit: strawberries, apricots, peaches, cherries, and tomatoes. Nous profitons des merveilleux fruits de saison: fraises, abricots, pêches, cerises et tomates.
21st June 2018: fields of mullein
The summer plants are in full bloom like the eye-catching great mullein with its tall spikes of yellow flowers. Les plantes d'été sont en pleine floraison comme la grande molène accrocheur avec ses grandes pointes de fleurs jaunes.
20th June 2018: blue beetles
The insects are increasing and we find this amazing sky blue scarab beetle. Les insectes sont en augmentation et nous trouvons cet incroyable scarabée bleu ciel.
19th June 2018: blue butterflies
The butterflies are enjoying the heat including the beautiful Adonis blue. Les papillons apprécient la chaleur, y compris le magnifique bleu Adonis.
18th June 2018: hot, hot, hot
The weather has improved and now it is very hot! Shutters have to be closed early to keep the house cool. Le temps s'est amélioré et maintenant il fait très chaud! Les volets doivent être fermés tôt pour garder la maison fraîche.
11th June 2018: a bit of sunshine
It is still grey and wet but on a walk we find a bit of sunshine – a golden waxcap. Il fait encore gris et humide mais au cours d'une promenade nous trouvons un peu de soleil - un champignon doré.
10th June 2018: not so pretty
We spot the distinctive box tree moth. It is an invasive species from Asia first recorded in France in 2009. Nous repérons le pyrale du buis, un papillon de nuit distinctif. C'est une espèce invasive originaire d'Asie, enregistrée pour la première fois en France en 2009.
9th June 2018: fields of orchids
We have never seen so many pyramidal orchids. This weather must be suiting them. Nous n'avons jamais vu autant d'orchidées pyramidales. Ce temps doit leur convenir.
8th June 2018: spot the lizard
The grass is green and so is this lizard. L'herbe est verte et ce lézard aussi.
7th June 2018: wet, wet, wet
We leave the glorious weather in the UK only to discover that it is cool and wet in the Lot! Nous quittons le beau temps au Royaume-Uni pour découvrir qu'il fait frais et humide dans le Lot!
